The Royal Wiltshire Regiment Veteran

We were contacted by a lady, who said,

“ An elderly neighbour of mine was in the Royal Wiltshire Regiment and did part of his National Service on the island. Years ago when we last visited he asked me to take a photo of the memorial plaque in the church which unfortunately did not come out well.”

We managed to get her a better photo and she sent us this lovely photo of her own, saying,

“ I had the photo put on a plaque for him. Here he is with it and his campaign medal. You made his day and he said to thank you very much!”

So good to see a veteran linked back to his time here.

Sad news

Some very sad news. Earl Moffitt, our Director of Music and Church Council member, died in hospital in Ireland this afternoon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Earl’s family and friends at this very sad time.

Sunday’s last Sunday at St Andrew’s

Dr Nwoye Kabilsen – more often known by his middle name ‘Sunday’- Sidesperson and Bookings Manager at St Andrew’s, is returning to his home in Nigeria this week.

Fr Alec thanked Sunday for everything he has contributed to St Andrew’s in the roles he has taken on in the church, since joining the congregation a decade ago.
Sunday, in turn, thanked the congregation for their love and support.
Sunday returns home, leaving St Andrew’s a better place for his having been here.
Our love and prayers go with him, along with our very good wishes for the future.

St Andrew’s was honoured to host, for the first time, the Royal British Legion Kyrenia Branch Service of Remembrance.

The ceremony which has previously been held outside the Old British Cemetery, attracted a good number of participants, with many tourists and visitors coming in to observe the proceedings.
