The Farewell Service for Fr. Alec and Linda at St. Andrew’s Church in Kyrenia marked the conclusion of their three years of dedicated service. The event, graced by Bishop Sean Semple, Bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf, was a heartfelt occasion for the community to express gratitude for Fr. Alec and Linda’s commitment, kindness, and spiritual guidance.

The community held special prayers for Fr. Alec and Linda, seeking safety, discernment, and blessings for their next journey. Parishioners expressed gratitude for their contributions to church life, creating a heartwarming moment of unity.
Bishop Sean commended Fr. Alec and Linda for their substantial contributions to the congregation and the Anglican community in North Cyprus, highlighting their dedication, generosity, and kindness, which have positively impacted numerous lives and strengthened many friendships.
After the service, everyone gathered in the church hall for coffee, tea, and cake, sharing memories of Fr. Alec and Linda’s time in Kyrenia, fostering an atmosphere of gratitude, joy, and love.
A beautiful musical performance by Fr. Alec was a highlight of the afternoon, where he led the group in song with the choir. This joyful experience inspired laughter and even a few tears, serving as a heartwarming conclusion to a special day, reflecting the love and energy given by Fr. Alec and Linda to St. Andrew’s.
As St Andrew’s Church in Kyrenia bids farewell to this remarkable team, they will be missed for their friendship and leadership. The community expresses gratitude and confidence that they will continue to be a blessing wherever they go.
Please hold Henry Ikediego in your prayers.
Henry will be ordained as a Deacon by Bishop Sean, in a service to be held at St Mark’s, Famagusta at 4pm tomorrow (Saturday 6th June)
Henry recently preached at St Andrew’s, to great acclaim.
He has been attending St Mark’s for more than a decade, serving as lay caretaker and administrator for the mainly student congregation.
We wish Henry every blessing on his ministry.

Wonderful to see so many St Andrew’s friends chatting and relaxing at The Hermitage yesterday.
A really lovely afternoon!

Blessings and all good wishes to our friends and neighbours celebrating the Bayram this week.

A LITANY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit. Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, bringing order out of chaos,
bring order to our actions and purpose in our lives.
Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, moving in the deep places of creation,
move in the depths of our hearts.
Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, breathing life into all creatures,
refresh, renew, restore your people.
Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, giver of all good gifts,
help us to use our talents and abilities aright.
Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, giving life to dry bones, give hope and joy to all who are weary.
Restore the lives which without you are dead.
Come, renew the face of the earth.
Holy Spirit, giver of love, kindle the hearts which without you are dull and cold. Fill your church, our hearts and minds, with the breath of your love.
Come, renew the face of the earth.

St Andrew’s was sad to learn of the recent death of Marion Stuart – a lively and colourful character, who will be missed by a lot of people.

An independant wedding celebrant, Marion also conducted funerals. She provided an alternative for non-religious people, whilst creating an atmosphere of dignity and reverence.
Marion had a compassionate nature, which encouraged a feeling of empathy amongst people at these gatherings.
Marion was also a fun person, often seen at charity events and social gatherings, and she took part in pantomimes produced by the Kyrenia Amateur Dramatics Society. Marion will be sadly missed in many areas of local life.
